Sharon Hutchison lives with her husband, Durrell Jackson, and dog, Kenya in Newport Beach, California.
Sharon studied art at the California College of Art in the San Francisco Bay Area, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting.
Following graduation, Sharon backpacked throughout Europe visiting distant relatives and viewing museums and architecture introduced in art history. She ventured on to the Middle East and parts North Africa including a volunteer position at a kibbutz in Israel.
For several decades Sharon ran a mural and decorative painting business, Sharon Hutchison Studio. She worked collaboratively with interior designers painting in private residences and commercial venues. Predominately based in Southern California her projects took her as far as the United Arab Emirates.
Interspersed with her mural business, Sharon continued to hone her skills with plein air painting workshops, life drawing and figure painting and spent a summer at an art school in Umbria, Italy.
Since 2014 Sharon has been solely painting oil on canvas developing her personal approach based upon her varied experiences.
Sharon has been as an exhibiting artist at the Festival of Art in Laguna Beach for two summers and participates in juried shows throughout the year.
Her work is displayed at Elizabeth Benefield Interior Design in Costa Mesa.
Sharon’s inspiration is the ever-changing coastal light, the scent of salty damp air, the ebb and flow of the wetland tides and the faithfulness of God’s beauty.
